END OF SEASON
We are not quite at the close yet – there still just one more event left – but we know you are anxious to celebrate your 2013 accomplishments so here are some details on the post-season!
We will be hosting a Run For Your Life awards banquet for both the Signature Series presented by Novant Health and the Grand Prix Series on Tuesday, November 26. If you are a possible award winner, make sure you save the date in your calendar! Official notifications and invitations will be sent out following the Thunder Road Marathon.
RESULTS SO FAR…
Lowest Cumulative Time
Don’t get too excited – these aren’t yet final! Here are the recipients of the Lowest Cumulative Time awards including Charlotte’s Runner of the Year and all Age Group categories.
Remember: In order to win a LCT award you MUST finish the longest distances of all races (see below for scoring details). If you are on this list, it’s because you qualify so far. To be awarded at the conclusion of the Thunder Road Marathon, you must finish the marathon – you will not qualify for an LCT award if you run the half marathon or the 5K.
Signature 8 Club
Here she is – the coveted Signature 8 Club medal! She’s big too – 5” across! Want to know who’s in the running for one of these bad boys? Check out the list of people that have finished all 8 Signature Series races this year. But remember, this list isn’t final! In order to actually get one of these medals put on your neck you must finish at least one of the Thunder Road races – the 5K, half marathon or full marathon!
RESULTS NOT YET FINAL
Remember – we still have one more event! So these results are PRELIMINARY! You will have to check back following the Thunder Road Marathon weekend to see final postings. Do you think there may be an error so far? Let us know! You can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We did some thinking and came up with an exciting award system for this Series.
Signature 8 Club - This is the Cool-Kids-Club of foot races! What do you have to do to be inducted? Finish ANY distance of ALL Signature Series races, regardless of finish time! What, that’s it? Oh yeah! We want to award you for having the commitment to finish out the Series in whatever capacity you are capable. So whether you run the shortest distance for all 8 events (4 Mile or 5K), you challenge yourself to run the longest distance for all events or some combination there-of, you will be part of the Signature 8 Club Class of 2013.
Wait – there’s more! You don’t just get inducted into the Club, everyone that completes all 8 races will receive a huge, honkin, baller-status medal at the end of the year. (Design will be posted before the season starts!)
Lowest Cumulative Time Awards - For those of you that are competitive and like a challenge, we will also offer awards to the runners that complete the Series with the lowest cumulative CHIP times. To be eligible, runners must finish the longest distance of ALL 8 events (qualifying distances are marked by * on the schedule). We will take the CHIP TIMES of the runners that finished all 8 qualifying events and add them together for a cumulative time. The runners with the Lowest Cumulative Times will be eligible for the below category awards:
Charlotte’s Runner of the Year - At the end of the year, the Male with the overall Lowest Cumulative Time will be dubbed Charlotte’s Male Runner of the Year and the Female with the overall Lowest Cumulative Time will be dubbed Charlotte’s Female Runner of the Year. They will each be awarded $1,000 CASH – now that is some moola!
Age Group - The Top Males and Top Females of each age group will also be awarded at the end of the year.
Age Group Categories: 19 & Under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-59; 70 & Over
Your age group for the Series will be determined by your age as of December 31, 2013, regardless of where your birthday falls throughout the year. For example, you are 34 now and will turn 35 on December 10, 2013. Then your age group for the year would be 35-39. Note: Age groups awards given out at individual races will be based on your age the day of the race. For example, if you are 34 now but turn 35 on April 10, 2013 then you are eligible for a 30-34 age group award at the Shamrock 4 Miler (March 16, 2013) and a 35-39 age group award at Celebrate Better Health (April 19, 2013). See individual race websites for information on the awards being handed out at that particular race.
We will allow you to miss one of the first four races, with a 2 minute penalty. You may miss only one between the Shamrock 4 Miler, Charlotte's Largest Office Party 5K, Skirt Chaser 5K or the July 4th Spectacular 4 Miler. If you miss one, we will take your time from the equivalent distance event, and use that time in place of your missed event, plus a 1 minute penalty. For example, if you run Shamrock in 18:02 but miss the Spectacular 4 Miler, we will add 2 minute to your Shamrock time (20:02) and us that as your finish time for the Spectacular 4 Miler.
